COVID-19 - EMERGENCY

VACCINATED PEOPLE)

 

As of November 1, 2021, people who comply with the following conditions can enter Uruguay:

  • Foreigners who can certify that they have received the only dose or the two doses, (according to the type of vaccine supplied) against the SARS CoV-2 virus approved by their country of origin, within the last 9 (nine) months prior to boarding, and have fulfilled the respective waiting periods to achieve effective immunity. In this case, foreigners must present a certificate issued by the competent health authority of their country of origin certifying the vaccination and compliance with the aforementioned deadlines.

 

  • Foreigners who have already had the COVID-19 disease within the last 90 (ninety) days prior to boarding or arrival to Uruguay, which must be proven by a positive result of a test by molecular biology technique PCR-RT or antigen detection test, carried out between a maximum of 90 (ninety) days and up to 20 (twenty) days prior to boarding or arrival to Uruguay depending on the case.

 

  • Foreign citizens under 18 (eighteen) years of age.

 

On the other hand, the Presidential Decree 357/2021 requires the presentation of a Health Statement, mandatory for boarding, which must be completed online and within 48 (forty-eight) hours prior to boarding by the following people:

  1. Uruguayans (vaccinated or not vaccinated)

  2. Residents (vaccinated or not vaccinated)

  3. Everyone under 18 years old (vaccinated or not vaccinated)

  4. Foreigners who are vaccinated

 

The online Health Statement can be found published on the institutional website of the Ministry of Public Health of Uruguay https://www.gub.uy/ingreso-uruguay or can be reached by installing the Coronavirus UY application.

 

In the case of unvaccinated foreigners who wish to enter Uruguay, they may request the exceptional entry authorization procedure for still valid causes according to the Presidential Decree 104/2020 and its amendments, having to present the corresponding authorization at the time of boarding (https://www.gub.uy/tramites/autorizacion-ingreso-uruguay).

 

Any person over 6 years of age wishing to enter Uruguay in the framework of the above, must prove a negative result of the SARS CoV-2 virus detection test (by PCR-RT molecular biology technique or diagnostic techniques that are approved by the MSP). This test must be carried out no more than 72 (seventy-two) hours before the start of the trip in a laboratory authorized in the country of origin or transit.

 

In the event that the entry to Uruguay is by commercial passenger transport, the accreditation of the negative test must be presented to the staff of the corresponding company prior to boarding. Those who are included in the present Decree are also subject to the health measures established in Decree 195/2020, with the exception of mandatory preventive social isolation. 

A new PCR test must be carried out on the 7th (seventh) day from the first test via application Coronavirus UY. 

The visitor is also encouraged to download the Coronavirus UY health IT / mobile application.​
